The Gonzaga Cycling Team is a Gonzaga University affiliated club made up of both traditional and non-traditional full time Gonzaga students. As a team we compete in the Northwest Collegiate Cycling Conference's road races which take place in the Spring throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. We also compete in the Inland Northwest Cyclocross Series in the Fall. Cyclocross races are located throughout western Washington and northern Idaho. While racing is the focus of many team members, nobody is required to race. In addition to our most active, dedicated members, any Gonzaga student is welcome to participate in our frequent club rides around Spokane.
One of the most important missions of the Gonzaga Cycling Team is to provide an affordable means for all team members to participate in each of our events. Cycling tends to be an expensive sport and such high expenses typically don't fit into a college student's budget. Team owned gear such as trainers and tools as well as team subsidized expenses such as travel costs and race entry fees allow participation that would not otherwise be possible.
In accordance with both our club's and the University's attempts to give back to the community, the Gonzaga Cycling Team takes part in at least two service projects each year. We aim to complete projects that benefit the cycling community such as refurbishing bikes to be used in Gonzaga Outdoors' green-bike program, assisting with Two Wheel Transit's children's bike safety rodeo, and local trail building and repair work.
